Drop In
Another Balinese wedding this time Komang and Ajus. Long drive up the other end of the island with Andrew in his convertible VW Safari. Lovely day for it, hot but I stupidly forgot some sunscreen, oops! I would suffer later for that mistake.

We set off late, there was a flat type, an accelerator that stuck, had to ask for directions, get something to drink, did I tell you it was hot? and after about 3 hours we arrived. The place was deserted, it was mid afternoon and while Balinese weddings typically go all day, they are a constant stream of different people coming and going. Actually we were very lucky to have the couple and their family to ourselves. It was nice, it was easy. We could have been the only Bule's (Foreigners) in a group of 200. Spot the white boys.

We ate, chatted and after a couple of hours it was time to go home. Off we set. This time the car was fantastic however we encountered traffic and it took about two and a half hours to get home. I was shattered. So add it all together 6 hours driving for 2 hours of wedding. Not nearly enough.

The couple were beautiful though. All the best you two and a half...

This is a montage of some images I took while driving up and at the wedding. The palms shot through the open roof of the car, the couple repeated over about 10 layers and lastly a rusted piece of metal added in the back for texture. We had asked them to move so we could take photos with the forest as a backdrop. Komang is looking off towards Andrew and Ajus is looking down to make sure of his footing. The image shows how comfortable they are with each other already.
